EMRYC Youth Commitment

EMRYC Youth Commitment

The purpose of the project is to establish a region wide youth commitment  and local implementation strategies with all key service providers and agencies working collaboratively to provide appropriate and effective career and transition support for young people 15 - 19 years in the Eastern Metropolitan Region of Melbourne.

The aim is to improve..

  • student engagement/retention and re-engagement options
  • support for students at risk of disengaging
  • student transitions to further education, training and employment
  • the collaboration of cross agency provision of pathway planning and associated career and transition support

Gateway LLEN has identified as a key priority.....

  • develop a range of diverse education options for the students more likely to disengage in this region
  • develop and establish stronger relationships with schools to support transition/wellbeing/ welfare teams to meet DEECD outcomes.
  • develop practical, ‘user friendly’ assistance to schools in identifying and supporting students
  • work collaboratively with schools, community, industry and local government to create a wider range of alternative learning programs within schools and in the wider community
  • provide information and access to industries who are willing to support Structured Workplace Learning,  ASBA’s and Work Experience.
  • support new and established VET and VCAL programs, by way of a LLEN project worker, experienced in the implementation and administration of VET and VCAL.
  • create wider VET training opportunities by supporting existing VET Cluster arrangements
  • provide professional development support to assist schools in areas of Applied Learning

We don’t have all the answers YET!!!!!

But we are confident that we can work with schools, community, local government and industry to create strong pathway options and most importantly, support teachers and schools to assist this cohort to transition successfully to employment and or further education and training.
