Pre-Vocational Exploration

Pre-Vocational Exploration

The Pre-Vocational Exploration partnership provides unilateral applied learning opportunities to students within the Gateway LLEN region.  These partnerships provide pre-accredited employability skills and exploratory opportunities in identified growth areas and are clearly aligned to Careers Curriculum Framework, VETis and post-secondary training and employment pathways.

The partnership model allows schools and other ACFE training providers’ access to localised, low-cost vocational training and industry engagement for students that support a broad range of learning outcomes. The success of the partnership is indicative of its relevance to schools and other providers in the region and forward enrolments and stakeholder additions confirm this.

In 2016 the partnership doubled the total stakeholder participation from 7 to 16 all programs were fully allocated. Industry partners included Penfold Motors, Epworth Hospital, The City of Whitehorse, Monash Health, DPV Construction, Café Ed and Omni Trades.   Over 120 students from 11 local schools/RTOs took part in pre-vocational tasters in 2016 and this growth offered new schools the opportunity to participate and broadened the original program curriculum.

The Pre-Vocational Taster partnership continues to evolve, driven by VETis curriculum and industry forecasts.  It is the long-term aim of the vocational taster partnership to expand into a regional cluster, where students from all secondary colleges within the Gateway region can access low cost, community-based, vocational taster programs.
