About Us

Bronwen Henry is an experienced not-for-profit and education leader with more than 20 years working across education, community development, youth engagement and the community sector. As Executive Officer of Gateway LLEN, she leads organisational strategy, governance, financial oversight, program delivery, partnerships, stakeholder engagement and communications.

At the heart of Bronwen’s work is building relationships and bringing people together. She’s worked extensively across schools, education, government, industry and community organisations to develop partnerships that create meaningful opportunities for young people and strengthen outcomes for communities.

Bronwen enjoys taking ideas and strategic priorities and turning them into practical, achievable programs. Working in a small not-for-profit also means being comfortable moving between the big picture and the day-to-day, from strategy, governance and advocacy to developing programs, supporting partnerships, managing competing priorities and making sure things actually get done. Her strengths lie in strategic leadership, partnership development, advocacy, program innovation and stakeholder engagement and Bronwen’s particularly motivated by work that creates opportunities for people to participate, learn and connect, and by organisations that value inclusion, collaboration and genuine community impact.

After more than two decades in the sector, Bronwen remains passionate about the capacity of education and community organisations to create meaningful change, particularly when we bring the right people together around a shared purpose.

Outside of work, Bronwen enjoys exploring Melbourne's independent music culture and spending time near the ocean.

Bianca Spence has previously worked as Project Officer at Gateway LLEN before moving into the Partnerships Manager role. She joined the Gateway LLEN team eight years ago, having previously worked in the Eastern Metropolitan region in education and training and community sectors.

Bianca also has experience teaching and training in both Australia and abroad. In her role with Gateway, Bianca coordinates and manages transition and engagement programs that improve educational and career opportunities for young people in the region.

Bianca works part-time on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Jake Barclay is a full-time Senior Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Coordinator with Gateway LLEN, with a background in Psychology studies and Sport Development. Jake has a passion for community development and comes with extensive experience in the sports, events, and hospitality industries.

In his role as an SWL Coordinator, Jake manages and coordinates SWL placements for senior school students. He is responsible for developing and maintaining employer relationships, creating enhanced career opportunities for young people in the region, and statewide portal maintenance. He works with students, schools and local employers across a range of industries to coordinate hands-on workplace experiences.

In his spare time, Jake is a committed senior football coach, currently Head Coach at North Brunswick FC women's program.

Madi comes to Gateway LLEN straight from university where she completed a Bachelor of Arts and Global Studies with a focus on Politics and International Development.

Madi is committed to empowering young people by advocating for equitable access to education and support, and has a strong passion for community development. In her role with Gateway LLEN, Madi supports the SWL program by developing and maintaining employer relationships, creating enhanced career opportunities for young people in the region, and works with students, schools, and local employers across a range of industries to coordinate hands-on workplace experiences.

Frank works as our EMVC Coordinator for the newly created Eastern Metropolitan VET Cluster (EMVC), a partnership that brings together schools and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to support students in VET programs provided by industry specialists.

Frank has over 30 years of experience in the community services sector, Having worked across local government and major non-government organisations like the Salvation Army and Anglicare, Frank has a deep understanding of the systems and partnerships needed to help young people thrive.

With his extensive background in youth services and leadership, Frank works closely with our schools and RTOs to strengthen vocational pathways and drive excellent VET outcomes for students across the cluster.

Dianne works as the Cluster Administrator for the newly created Eastern Metropolitan VET Cluster (EMVC), a partnership that brings together schools and Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to support students in VET programs provided by industry specialists.

She has over thirteen years’ experience working in the TAFE sector, assisting and facilitating secondary schools and their students to access and undertake VET delivered to secondary students (VDSS) programs.

Her role within Gateway LLEN is to work with the EMVC schools and RTOs to improve student access and engagement in VDSS programs.

Dianne works part-time on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.

Melissa is Office Manager at Gateway LLEN. Having been with the team since 2004, she is responsible for reception duties, coordinating and maintaining office procedures, and the organisation of Gateway's Board and Sub-Committee meetings. She enjoys working with the rest of the team to achieve outcomes for young people in the Gateway region.
