Reimagining Work Experience students at Hawthorn Football Club.
Late last month, the Gateway team was thrilled to take a group of select students behind the scenes at the Hawthorn Football Club as part of Reimagining Work Experience for 2025.
Students got a first-hand look at the many careers that power a professional sports club, from social media and graphic design, accounting, membership services, to physiotherapy, community engagement, and more.
The day included exclusive chats from club staff on how they got started in their careers as well as hands-on activities including blind footy and mock interview prep.
The students were even lucky enough to be present on a day where the players were at the club for a closed training session, getting special glimpses into the players’ training regime on the field.
The experience helped students see how many pathways are available – both inside and outside the sporting world – and how their strengths and interests can align with future careers they might not have considered.
