The Challenge
This partnership theme was derived from school consultation where:
- 73% of survey respondents indicated specific interest in careers and pathways
- 59% in expos and industry events
- 50% in mentors/industry professionals
The Speed X Monash initiative is an immersion/SWL program is for Year 10, 11 and 12 students. It is designed to provide them the opportunity to connect with local employers, learn about occupations and practice interview techniques.

The Result
Based upon the highly successful “Speed X Manningham” model, in 2022 Gateway LLEN partnered with Eastern Innovation Business Centre to pilot “Speed X (Monash pilot)”.
This industry immersion/SWL program provided Years 11 and 12 VCAL students the opportunity to connect with local employers, learn about occupations and practice interview techniques.
The program features a range of employers with professional backgrounds in numerous different industries, from sports and recreation, to building, business, hospitality, health and more.
In 2023, the event was run onsite at the Eastern Innovation Business Centre for the second consecutive year and hosted over 80 students and 35 local employers.
