The Challenge
The partnership theme was derived from school consultation where:
- 73% of survey respondents indicated specific interest in careers and pathways
- 59% in expos and industry events
- 50% in mentors/industry professionals
This industry immersion/SWL program is for Year 10, 11 and 12 students, providing with them the opportunity to connect with local employers, learn about occupations and practice interview techniques.

"The event was very worthwhile. The overwhelming feedback by all students was they wanted to be able to talk to all the employers or at least more of them. They were happy to spend a few hours doing it."
Based upon the highly successful “Speed X Manningham” model, in 2022 Gateway LLEN partnered with Eastern Innovation Business Centre to pilot “Speed X (Monash pilot)”.
This industry immersion/SWL program provided Years 11 and 12 VCAL students the opportunity to connect with local employers, learn about occupations and practice interview techniques.
In 2022 the event was run onsite at the Eastern Innovation Business Centre M and hosted over 80 students and 35 local employers.
